Out with the old... in with the new

Almost everyone I talk to is so happy to see 2007 end. It is only really another day but also an opportunity. I see the opportunity and I am also eager to try to make it a good one. I am looking forward to this next year and all the possibilities that it holds. I am ready for a new year! I am trying not to make any resolution but promises. I think that if I promise myself and everyone around me I will be more apt to keep em. I am a woman of my word and I hope to keep it that way.
So... what are those promises??? Believe me I am thinking and thinking hard. This past year one thing has really made itself clear to me... ask for it and you shall get it... just be really careful what you ask for. It is like a double edged sword.
So my promises and "asks" will be kept a secret for now... but as soon as I get something I will tell you al about it!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a GOOD NIGHT!!!

It's over. The muss the fuss and this holiday is over. I've been a real scrooge this past holiday so I'm glad to say that it is over. But (the almighty but) I enjoyed it... through my scrooginess there were some really wonderful moments. My husband sensing my mood made every effort to make it jolly for me and what a wonderful job he did. He is not really one to be happy (check out that picture) and merry but for me he put on a happy face trying to make me smile. And he did. Babe- I love you with all my heart and thank you for this holiday, past holidays and all the great ones to come.
(the picture is our tree from the perspective of the mistletoe)
Other awesome moments...visiting my cousin's newest addition to the clan (SH- he is truly beautiful, you guys are a gorgeous family), playing some pool with my oldest nephew (he is growing so FAST), picking out our yearly ornament with my hubby, much needed mani/ pedi, going visiting with my mom, spending time with my sister and her amazing family, watching my niece battle the family on the new Wii, of course the best time of all watching World's Strongest Man competition with my hubby (we are huge fans!). I hope you all had wonderful holidays and was able to spend some good times with your families as well.

It's a Christmas Miracle...

Except for the random gift cards that I have to pick up on my way back from certain places... and the random stuff that I have forgotten... I'M DONE SHOPPING. That doesn't include the food that I need to get over the next couple of days or the wrapping paper that I might run out of... but I'M DONE. Feels great.
As I was leaving work on my way to the MALL (yes I know... of all places... how dare I) I was given a small pep talk from a work friend, "Stay calm, be patient, park as far away as you possibly can and all will be good." He was right. I found a spot fairly quickly, when I was ready to buy I found a nice mall employee that had no line and had a smile on her face, I went to another store and bought some To:ME From:ME, and that line was pretty short too. I had a "pay it forward" moment when the guy in front of me needed a quarter... I gave it to him. I even went to a book store after that; abandoning the idea of getting a male family member a sweater in favor of a book. The line was crazy long but I kept my cool and it moved right along. I was home within an hour!!! Proud is the first word that comes to mind. May all your lines be sort and your mall employees have smiles.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We got walloped with a doozy of a storm on Thursday. It was one of those days where you wake up and everything is really calm and it was quite cold. Went to work while hubby stayed home (SNOW DAY... such an annoying concept for me!) got there and watched the snow begin at about 10:30am. I came home at about 4:30 and was so glad to not be on the road any longer. We got another storm today (supposed to be worse than Thursday) but I don't care because I'm home. The pictures are from super early Friday morning... today is really crappy out too. The snow is already getting annoying. I went out to help hubby shovel... darn it was FREEZING and the snow was heavy.

I'm gonna try really hard to get into the spirit... hubby and I went out to dinner last night and bought our tree... we will trim it today with hot cocoa and lots of carols. I am going to attempt making cookies... and for anyone who knows me knows that a baker I AM NOT... but the crappy weather and the holiday season makes me want to be a better baker. There is something about having the oven on and sweet smells wafting through the house.

Shopping List...

It's that time of year. Lots and lots of shopping and not the fun kind. Fun kind being the one where almost everything you bring home is yours and wearable and nice. Don't get me wrong... I love to give presents. But the pressure is just too much.
I wish that I could make stuff and give that but a large part of my list are children and I don't think they would want pesto or pepper jelly. So there is a lot of "what ages is that good for" and "what sizes is 7 yrs old" and "what the heck are backyardigans and will xxx like them?". I hate to ask the parents what the kids might really like because I always get "PLEASE NO TOYS, ONLY CLOTHES!" and I hate to be that aunt... the not fun aunt that always brings clothes. The good news is that I think I'm done. I was a POWER shopper Monday with my girl Leah and we really worked those stores. Done. I think.....

I'm sick.

I think I caught it from reading all the bloggers that have been sick these past weeks. Now I've got it and I'm on the verge of being miserable. I was snapping at hubby and not wanting to work. It adds on to the horrible weekend that I had. To top it all off I wore one of my favorite sweaters today and I poked a hole in it... right on my booby. ARGH...

December in all it's glory

Hi. I've been bad about posting lately... sorry.
December is here and here to stay. I'm not it's biggest fan as of yet because this weekend has been yucko! Friday was a realy hard day at work. One of those days that is just one bad/hard thing after another, on top of which it was LONG. I went in for 9am and headed home at 11pm. I had an event, opening night and my nephew to stay with me for the weekend. I had to run errands during the day and it was chilly.
Saturday started out innocently enough and then tumbled into the abyss of another bad day. The power went out at my house, I was late for yet another event at the theatre, looked a fright because there was no electricity to do my hair, LOST A VERY SPECIAL NECKLACE THAT MY FRIEND MADE ME, still had no electricity so my house was freezing, therefore having to miss a holiday party. Today topped this crazee weekend off with a birthday party at my sister's house. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBIE. I'm home now, the heat is on and I should be glad that the weekend is over... but of course we are expecting some nasty weather tonight/tomorrow and I was going to go x-mas shopping tomorrow. ARGH. I'm never gonna get it done at this rate!
BAH HUMBUG! I guess I'll stay home and clean since that needs to get done too!
